Upgrading to Windows 10 for Dummies

OK - here is some non technical, common sense advice...

When you are updating the fundamental control system of your computer - your Operating System, it makes sense to do certain things FIRST.

    1) Do basic system maintenance - clear out all the dross from your system. Temp files, unused files etc
    2) Ensure all your cloud services are fully synched & finished before updating.
    3) Ensure any & all Windows updates are done
    4) Ensure you have the latest BIOS from Asus
    5) Fully charge your device and then power cycle it

To perform the update, follow Caster's marvellous advice here...

[GUIDE] Windows 10 - Simple Upgrade Definitive Guide for all Windows 8.1 Asus models!

If you don't follow these basic steps, or don't understand the terms or how to do them, then in all honesty you would be well advised to either not bother or to take your device to a computer specialist and have them perform the update for you.

Also before beginning the upgrade/clean install, it might be prudent to disable (uninstall) any after market virus scanner and firewall software and reset the system to use Windows Defender and firewall.

Always remembering to reinstall / re- enable them afterwards as Windows Defender & Firewall are only a very basic line of defence, that are not as successful as we would like them to be.
