    Touch screen not working..No touch Panel firmware version in settings

    Hello Transformer community

    I own a Transformer prime TF201 which has been working fine so far.. However lately the touch screen wasnt working 1inch from either edges in landscape mode while the rest of the screen registered touch.

    Recently I did a factory reset to check if that could solve the issue. But after that the whole touch screen started working intermittently and a week back it has stopped working altogether after a COLD BOOT(aka Hard reset).

    When I check in the settings option I cant see a Touch Panel version..It says unavailable in Settings>about Tablet> Touch Panel Version

    When I try to do a cold boot again it shows Updating Touch Panel Version 0% and finishes boot.

    I have downloaded the latest version of my firmware from the ASUS website..But cant get to installing it again..

    Can anybody please help as I dont think its a hardware issue..I am also ok to root the tablet or unlock the bootloader and root it (if it helps) as my warranty has run out.

    Actually it sounds like a loose ribbon cable - hardware - connection to your touchscreen digitizer. That might be why your Cold Boot, Factory Resets still won't show Touch panel version in settings. That's my guess.

    Ohk...Any easy way I can pry the tablet open and reseat the cable without damaging it? or should I send it to ASUS?..I am gonna give a try re installing the firmware over the weekend to check if it that solves it...

    The are "tear down" guides here & also on YouTube - if your device is out of warranty you have nothing to loose by trying... carefully

    Take a look at ifixit.com - search for TF201 teardown. The warranty is one year - don't know if yours is still covered.

    I have no experience opening up these tablets and my earlier post is a guess. Good luck resolving your issue.

    thanks...Anyway I have ruled out the loose ribbon cable recently as the battery was drained all the way till it switched off..
    after that when i charged and switched it back on the touch screen worked perfectly for half a day and then the same unresponsive touch screen and no version of the touch panel firmware..

    I tried re-installing the official WW firmware from the ASUS website through the recovery option(RCK) but wasnt successful.

    Would rooting the tablet and installing a new ROM make a difference(I assume kernel related issues)?..I can give that a try..

    My warranty had run out..Hence I am ready to experiment evrything I can to fix this..
