Asus TF201 - Does not want to enter recovery mode

    Dear All,

I have 2 big problems with my TF201.

First - It cannot enter the recovery mode neither from ADB via the command:

    adb reboot recovery

nor via the "hold volume down and power for 3 seconds, let go of power only, then press volume up when prompted on screen"

The result that I get every time is Android lying down with a red asterisk.

Second ADB recognizes the TF201 correctly but I cannot say the same for FASTBOOT.

    When I execute the command:

    adb devices

    I get the following result:

    * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
    * daemon started successfully *
    List of devices attached
    C2OKAS026360 device

But when I try FASTBOOT as follows:

    fastboot -i 0x0b05 erase cache

or any other fastboot command, I get:

    < waiting for device >

    And that is forever.

Please, help me figure out what is wrong with my TF201.

    Thank you in advance.

You have to be in fast boot mode for fast boot to work I believe (power + volume down, when you see the icons select the USB icon as long as you have the jellybean boot loader). You are actually entering recovery using the per and vol button combos, the dead android is the stock recovery. You can not get to recovery using "adb reboot recovery" on the transformer lineup, you need to use an app from the play store to do so. Hope that helps a bit.

Didn't know that Adobe had such a thing.

The latest problem is that I cannot enter the a.m. mode. When I select the USB icon my TF201 freezes and does nothing. And yes, I do have JellyBean bootloader which is unlocked, I thing, because when I start the tablet, a message "The device is unlocked" appeares in the upper left corner of the screan.

Which app can I use? Do I need root for this because I do not have it.

Not sure if it requires root, but he app is called transformer reboot recovery I think in the play store. You will need to have a custom recovery loaded to make any use of it though
