Printing from a transformer

Can someone please tell me what is possible by way of printing files. I guess you could use a remote desktop app?

I am trying to use the transformer on a home LAN, and finally got to "see" the other pcs on the LAN using ES file manager, but how do I print from a printer plugged into one of these Windows pcs? Do I need a special driver?

I can see the printer directory on the other pc but can't get access, and I assume that I would have to access it from either the browser or office app that I want to print from and not from the file manager??

You will need an app.

Depending on your printer, your printer OEM may make an app, or you can use something like PrintBot or PrinterShare. If you have Chrome installed on your PC you can enable Cloud Print through your google account and install the Cloud Print app on your TF.

To print, use the "Share" function in the app (cannot do it from some apps like GMail or Email).

For more details, do an advanced search for "Print" in titles of threads only.

I'm using Cloud Print, and although it certainly isn't great, it has accomplished what I have needed so far. I will be looking into other apps in the future that will allow me to print emails, etc. instead of just files.

Try some different email clients. K-9, MailDroid and Kaiten are some to look into. I am pretty sure all three have the share option (I know for a fact that Kaiten does).

Also, using PrinterShare you can print from your GMail account (but the app costs $12)

i use printershare also and it works every time. there is a free version to download first then download the "key" version for the full app.

An app called PrinterShare works great for me. It costs a few dollars but it works great with almost any network printer. Prints files, photos, Gmail and web pages.
