    [SOLVED] Updating firmware

Im trying to update my firmware. I currently have 9.4.2.14 and downloaded 9.4.2.21 (or 22?) from the asus website. I can't extract it so that the transformer recognizes and opens it. And i cant go use the system firmware update button in the settings menu. Its darkened and won't even allow me to conduct a search/check for firmware updates. I haven't been able to search for an update since i first bought my transformer.
Does anyone know a way to update the transformer prime or to make it possible that it enables checking for updates?

    Updating firmware

I can't update firmware. I can't even Check for updates under the settings menu. I manually downloaded the 9.4.2.22 file from asus site. but i can't open it and have the transformer prime realize it's supposed to open it and upgrade. Any idea how to get the TP to check for updates or extract the manually downloaded file so TP will actually upgrade itself?

A manual update requires two things: a microSD card formatted in Fat or Fat32, and a computer or mac that can read/write the card.

Download the update to your pc/mac. Unzip it somewhere. You'll notice there's a 2nd zip inside the first. That is the file you need to copy to the microSD card's root directory. Use the sd card reader and your PC/mac.

Finally, insert the microSD card into your device, and do a cold boot (Vol Dn + Power). The transformer should then see the update and allow you to install it automatically (once it reboots).

Once you see the white lettering? Just let it do it's thing-- it will automatically do a cold boot.

Unless you want to do a factory reset/wipe-- then, and only then, you press the vol keys to choose and then confirm (watch and read the prompts).

The update version you downloaded is for Japan. Everywhere else it's .21. Is this your problem?

Sorry, but we both seem confused now

What transformer do you have please? You have posted in tf101 help, your device is listed as researching tablets, but you mention the tf201.

Secondly, please list the full name/numbers of your firmware as shown in about tablet.

Have you got a firmware update showing in your notification bar?

    Have you done this?
Go to Settings - Applications - All - DMClient - Force Close then Clear Data.
Then go to Settings - Applications - All - CMClient - Force Close then Clear Data.

Have you tried a Factory Reset?

Just a few questions & pointers at the same time

Yeah sorry i have a tf201. the firmware i currently have is IML74K.US_EPAD-9.4.2.14-20120214. The one i downloaded from asus website is US-epaduser9_4_2_21.
Janner your technique worked, after clearing the DMClient and CMClient I was able to Check Updates again and it found and downloaded everything on it's own.
Thanks for the help, and I'll try to not cross-post in the future
