    Prime charger pins bent

The charger metal pins inside my Prime are bent and when I connect the charger to it, it won't charge. I tried straightening the pins out but it still won't work. What can I do to fix this?

    That really sucks, man.

The only solution is the one you tried already-- those connectors are surface-mount devices, and really are not well suited to hand re-soldering-- 40 pins in too-tight a package for ordinary human skill.

But if you scour the interwebs for a really quality picture of the socket as it is supposed to look? And blow that up (zoom in)? And maybe even print it out, as a reference guide? And get a magnifying glass too-- and a pair of fine tweezers or perhaps a darning needle?

You might be able to straighten them out.

Otherwise, RMA is your only other choice-- and it may not be covered too. I'd be sure and ask.

Hi Nexus99, I have the same problem with the pins, which route did you go for ? the DIY or sent for repair? If repair, was it covered under warranty?

Would appreciate feebdack as I am without a tablet right now.. and how do you back up your info it the tablet is not charged.

    Thanks

I have the same issue and I'm going to attempt to replace the charging port. Here is the link to the part: Asus IO DOCK FPC R1.3

Here is a link to just the pins w/out the ribbon cable: Taiwan Dock Receptacle I/O Connectors from Jhongli Manufacturer: Aces Electronics Co., Ltd. However, replacing just this requires greater soldering skills than I have.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
