New to Android and tablets... Where to start with brand new T-Prime ?

I'm quite new to tablets, and even more a newbie to Android. My Prime arrives tonight. Where should I start ?
(in case there is a thread for this I haven't found yet, just please point at it).

I do not really need a detailed walkthrough, but if someone can just list the main things to do, and in which order, I could browse for detail instructions for each of them.

Here are some of the questions I ask myself...

    - Is there a quick benching procedure I could run to make sure everything is fine on my TP ?
    - I understand there has been some debate whether install ICS or not... is getting better now? Do you think it is quite stabilized now ?
    - if i am to install ICS, is it recommended to install it when my TP is as new as possible or are there things I should set-up before ? In lattest case, which things ?

    Thanks a lot !

First thing to do is to let it charge. It is recommended to charge it up to 8 hours before using it. I had my TF101 charging and using it right away and it didn't hurt it that I can tell, but some say better safe than sorry. Once powered on I would install ICS right away. It should notify you that there is an update, if not you can search the forum for how to manually update. It is best to update before using it too much since you won't be tempted to install apps that may interfere later on. Other than that the best advice I can give you is to have fun and play with it a lot.

I charged mine then booted it up and ran any updates that popped up, including ICS. I was new to Android and tablets as well so took it slow, looked around so to speak. Downloaded ICS Browser+ and have stuck with that as it is designed for this OS and some others have given problems. Set up your mail and contacts (called People under ICS). I learned I had to sync my puter address book with Google's and then import that into my tablet People app. Not happy with the limitations of that but it seems Google has a strangle hold on that department with a "like it or lump it" attitude.

Install what apps you want/need one at a time and ensure things are playing nice together before you decide to keep it (ie the app not the tablet) or not. I think most problems people have are app/ICS conflicts rather than Transformer issues.

My TFP runs almost flawlessly, except for weak gps. I love it! Just wish I could get a half decent mail program - something that integrates groups, collects addresses from emails, searches of multiple accounts, etc.
