    Broken LED screen

Just bought my girlfriend an Transformer Prime and a leather case for it and less than a month of owning it she dropped it on one of those parking lot car dividers (on the inside of the stalls). Wouldn't you know it she dropped it right on the charging port(cracked the piece of metal between the glass and charging port. Now the glass looks fine but when you turn it on there is a white crack line on the screen. When looking at it landscape the crack runs about two inches from the right of the screen all the way to about two inches from the bottom left of the screen. So the left side is black with vertical green and red thin streaks almost the whole length of the screen.

So the question is should I try to pry it open and see if a connection is loose or did she break the LED? If the later can I, if the part is available, fix it or do I have to send it in somewhere?

Sorry, the LCD is toast. paying ASUS to replace the LCD or buy a new Prime is your only option. There is another posing about this subject and "I THINK" the repair cost is 3/4th the cost of a new Prime.

I suggest you get an Accidental Warranty next time. I did and am feeling better about it the more I read threads like this.

Yeah unfortunately it will likely cost you almost as much if not as much as a new one to replace that. The lcd is probably way beyond repair. And it sounds like other things might be significantly damaged as well. I wouldn't try to open it up unless you plan on simply buying a new one. Its also pretty surprising the glass didn't break on a drop like that. These tablets are great but they are like carrying around an expensive vase.
