Asus repair service DE broke my tablet

So I've read many "horror stories" before, but never had a problem before, until recently.

About 2 months ago I dropped my tablet. It fell on the corner and the aluminum casing got bent a little. Otherwise the screen and everything else was working flawless. After a few hick-ups with the pick-up service the tablet was taken for repair. Since I dropped it, the warranty didnt cover the cost of repair and I had to part with some 160 Euros.

When I got the tablet back I noticed there was a problem with the screen (I posted about it before). The top part of the screen becomes unresponsive at times. When I click the power button to turn off the screen and then back on, the screen becomes responsive again.

When I addressed Asus about the issue, they simply replied with "we offered to fix it for you" but there was nothing to fix before it got "fixed" by them! I even have a video with the time and date that shows the tablet was running smoothly.

I've been an Asus customer for many years 3 laptops and 2 tablets and was always happy with them but this really pisses me off.

Can anyone suggest any help that wont cost me another 200 euros or more (the tablet itself is worth less by now)?

That is a sad story - can you not escalate the matter within Asus? A repair which you paid for is covered by the same EU consumer protection legislation as an original purchase. Do they have a consumer trading advocacy service in Germany? Even though all Asus repairs are carried out in the Czech Republic, they are still obligated to comply with German (I'm assuming you are in Germany, because of the DE in your thread title) consumer regulations.

actually I think the repair was done in the Netherlands.
Like I said, the only response I got so far was "We offered to fix your screen too".. They dont seem to take responsibility for the current problem, and my warranty will end by the end of the month.

I sent them another "complaint" hopefully it will reach someone.

...another story to make me shudder when I think having to send my tablet in to ASUS. Sorry to hear that myir. Does it sound a bit like they noticed another problem while fixing the problem you sent it in for? From the 'we offered to fix that' statement, I sorta got that idea. (ie. they were in there poking around and went 'oh, this guy's power doohickey is almost wonk...see if he wants it fixed'.) Just seems odd, sorta like they dropped an email to you mentioning that. Or perhaps that's just the cover letter sent out to anyone with a problem post rma? "Yeah, we offered..." No idea what you can do, have a local repair shop that can take a look? They can be hard to find depending on your location, but could give you a better price.

I think it's best if you go to a technician and let them fix it for you. I guess there's a lot of good ones out there and they offer affordable price for fixing your tablet.

Most of the hiccups after you've dropped a device are due to loose parts and wirings.
