    usb devices causing reboot

    Hi,

I was just about to give up and get an I pad (this still might happen, android is proving to be to unreliable for business use)

I use a plugable usb ethernet (ftp mostly but also internet sharing when working in asia) it works but causes the device to crash 5-10 times a day. Seems to happen if more than one app uses the ethernet. (An ipad cannot do this which is why I'm here, but at the moment its just an expensive unreliable video player with awful audio latency, quite poor battery life and poor quality apps, I own mac and pc, my macs crashed once in 5 years, my friends ipads have never crashed, features are great but not if they don't work reliably)

The device is new, upgraded straight to JB on day one before installing anything. I tried a clean install again for the hell of it, same problems. after 2 weeks of googling and playing with settings i am here.

    In the developer settings

I currently have usb debugging on ( i tried that before with the same results)

And i have turned the running process limit off.

Touch wood 24 hours without a crash. No idea what these do I just tried things out of frustration. The only ill effect so far is that the asus app killer widget no longer works. Apart from that all seems nippy and working. Hopefully a software update can solve these issues but until then........fingers crossed. It has till xmas or its going in the bin.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Im finally able to use wifi instead of ethernet. no crashes, there is definately a problem with USB on this thing, slow transfer using hard drives and crashing on ethernet.

There is aslo a new bug. If you set the ethernet to not sleep, it prevents the tablet from sleeping even if its not connected. A buggy piece of crap.

    Thanks

The only known issue that I have heard of and has happened to me is when a SD card (particulairly a microSD) post JB update is when reboots happen. Like I said I have no problem when no card is in ONLY when its left in and timeout occurs.....it reboots. There should be a thread on this....this illustration is a known bug. I hope Asus is working on it, I have NOT heard this to be true concerning USB though.

I have problems with my TF201 rebooting when using a usb hard drive through the USB interface, its very stable other than this one thing.
