    Transformer and SIM card

    Hi there,

Transformer has no SIM socket, but can I somehow use my phone SIM card and USB adaptor in order to conenct my Transformer to the web when there is no wireless? Or does the lack of 3G in the tablet stop this?

At the moment I set my phone up as a mobile hotspot, but it canes the battery.

    Cheers

Mobile hotspots is about the only way I have heard to do this. There may be a tether option out there for USB, but I haven't heard of it.

If you have the TP keyboard you should be able to use a 3G USB dongle with it. I don't have the keyboard or dongle to test it but perhaps someone who does can chime in here with a definative answer.

As far as I know, tethering your phone requires software/drivers and obviously, an open USB port. Asus does have a USB dongle, that plugs into the charging port giving the tab a USB host jack without a dock. I think one of the supporting vendors sells this from their website.

But even then, you'd need drivers/software and possibly an unlocked phone. And some carriers frown on unreported tethering, and could fine you or worse if you get caught.

However, if you use the official channels, and request a tethering plan? You have the added benefit of full support from your phone's 611 department, and they can help get you started.

Edit: link to dongle from Caseen
