    Exclamation Apps with ads found to pose privacy and security risks

    Here's a link to an interesting article about the potential risks that apps with ads. While I don't run any antivirus software I do adhere to some simple common sense rules. Pay attention to the apps rating. If the 1 star rating bar is long you should probably avoid it. Read the comments posted by other users, read more than just the visible ones.

    I welcome any other tips for avoiding potentially unsafe apps.

    Hmmm...

    I wasn't impressed by the article Muzz (& I am mildly paranoid about this type of thing). I think a far better take on this has been covered with the recent backtracking of Symantec over their "malware" scare about apps with advertising that was challenged by Lookout amongst others.     To get a full appreciation of which apps should be downloaded, you really should read the article I reference from point 4 in that thread. IMO it is the defacto standard on this subject.
