    Themes and fonts

So I was trying to give me Prime a different look and was curious to see if any free stuff was available on the market for this.
I'm trying to change my icons such as browser, e-mail, file manager, basically all that stuff. I noticed some fonts were available but you needed to root your device first.

Is this the case for getting themes and fonts, most probably will need to root?

    Thanks.

To drastically change the theme/font you do have to root, but you can also do it without rooting, albeit on a smaller scale, by using a third party launcher like ADW.

Thanks for the tip, appreciate it.
Most probably I will end up rooting it, but first I'll see how it goes with ADW.

Tetra, if you would, why don't you report back and tell us what you think about ADW...maybe even some screenshots!

Sounds good, I'll do that when I get home from work tonight!
Sucks that I can connect to the wireless at work, but they just implemented it and there are no passwords to login yet! It's killing me!

Full themes, custom roms and custom kernels (i.e. overclock, tweaks, etc.).

Yeah, I'm more interested at full themes and custom roms at this point. Not sure I'd like overclocking just yet. I want to wait until a few results of stable OC'ing are out there first.

    re: transformer themes

thought I'd tack onto this topic because in a similar sich and looks like that guys not going to report back on his progress. Got a TF101 the other day and while I've done a lot of rooting in my time wasn't keen to do it to a uni purpose tablet just yet especially as class starts in four days. Anyway enough of my life story...

Straight off ADW Launcher is not compatible with the TF101, don't know about the prime so I chose GO Launcher which I've used on SGS2

I like Go Launcher on the tablet, for SGS it wasnt enough to sway me from stock launcher but tablet is a different ball game.
    First things I liked were
    - More screen real estate - feels like you can use more of your screen for widgets etc
    - Animations - Nice configurable transitions between your home screens, think powerpoint slide changes rather than just sliding
    - Quality, free, resizable widgets - such as full screen calendar which I have been searching for for a long time
    - Retains the infrastructure of stock android system within menus - everythings still where you think it should be
    - Many themes available for free on Marketplace if thats what you\re into

The method of changing the fonts is quite logical, bring up the menu from the homescreen, and choose preferences -> Visual Settings -> Font. Choose Scan Font first to get a basic list stripped from a few apps on your system. TBH there was nothing there I liked straight away but you can copy custom fonts to the go launcher font folder later. I like fonts that are a bit more rounded, as I find them easier to read, or italicized versions which maintain a professional look. I applied the font but unfortunately it only changes things like icon labels and menu items - not things like internet text and rss text. Looks like I and anyone else will have to go down the rooting path for a system wide change - still GO Launcher is worth the switch from stock so maybe a combo of the two will be what I settle on.

Heres a comparison of launcher homescreens, font menu and an example of an italicised font change affecting the menu (doesnt affect browser )

I have no idea why AWD Launcher does not work on your TF-101, as I have been using it on my TF-101 for ages and love it, Are you rooted?
