    Disable charging while docked?

    Hey guys,

Is there a way to turn off charging when the TFP is mounted to the dock? I don't want to overuse the dock too much, but I also want to use the keyboard.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

From what I read in the FAQ document (that ASUS no longer has published) and from what I have read regarding the battery usage from users of the Prime that the tablet battery will be used in the following fashion:

The tablet battery will be used until it reaches 70%. The keyboard battery will be used only minimally during this period. At this point, the dock will begin charging the tablet back up to 90% and stop charging. This will continue until the dock battery reaches a low level (somewhere around 5%).

Do some testing to see how it behaves. AFAIK there is no way to change the charging function.

Yes, I see what you mean as my TF is almost always docked, and so the tablet always get topped up by the dock.

I guess I should exercise the tablet battery a bit more by itself?

Ya, I mean if its going to charge every 70%-- then thats like 4 charging sessions from the dock to the tablet.

What a bad design....my tablet battery longevity is going to be killed!

No, I don't think you have to worry about that. If anything, keeping your battery well "topped up" will actually prolong its life. It is deep cycling ie big discharge, big recharge, that will shorten its life.

Have a read through this, I think it wil put your mind at rest.
