Results from speedtest comparing Toshiba satellite L505 and Prime. The Prime results in parentheses are with it laying flat on dining table. All other Prime results are with it being held in landscape reading position. I am not happy with these results because I presume that the "garden shed" results approximate conditions during travel, i.e.
connecting via WiFi in a hotel or airport. Distances are approximate.

Forgive the reformatting that forum software did with my post. I do not have time or expertise to re-edit. I have tried once. With care you can make out the numbers. On each line (location), once you get past the distance noted as feet, the first 2 numbers are the download/upload for the laptop and the last 2 numbers are for the Prime.

Thanks for the data, linkage I feel for you.

I bought a wifi extender in my house and and still had major wifi problems.

On top of that I was never able to have my weather auto—update even with my wifi connected.

It looks like there is a significant difference as you begin to move away, and the Prime takes it in the shorts.

I did a firmware update on my Netgear router (dual band 2.4 and 5gHtz) and changed the channel to 6 and it actually slightly improved my WiFi. I can actually surf the net in my backyard whereas prior to this I would sit out back and grow old waiting for a page to load. Tiny improvement there.

Please don't flame me. I don't even have the tablet yet, and I don't claim to have any facts. I just thought I would mention that I talked to customer service at B&H today to complain about my tfp still not showing up. The discussion went like this:
B&H: Last we heard was end of the month early February.
B&H: It is because of the wifi issues that it keeps being pushed back.
Me: do you think they are addressing them?
    Me: before shipping?
    B&H: Supposed to be, yes
Me: I guess I'll wait then. Thank you.
    B&H: You're welcome
Probably doesn't mean anything, but as we are all wondering about returning this thing, I thought I would share.

i got call from Asus today, and they asked me to return my Prime so they could take a look at the WiFi problems I was having. (I had written a couple of emails to folks at Asus.) Apparently some Primes have problems with "WiFi cards".

They created a FedEx RMA, and Prime is on the way to them. Slowly, I might add, I asked to deliver myself, since they are in same city, but Asus does not allow customer drop-off. So tomorrow or Thursday it will arrive there and Asus will take a few days to look at it , and call me.

I purposely placed my order for the Transformer Prime TF201-C1-CG 10.1-Inch 64GB (champagne version) after they 'stopped' shipping due to availability. What I am betting on is that means they will ship when ASUS releases the tablets with the WiFi/GPS issues resolved. Since the TF700 has been announced (with a much better screen resolution AND supposedly fixed GPS/WiFi issues,) I've decided to cancel my FT201 order at Amazon and (a) wait for the dust to settle and fixes to be disbursed for the TF201 or (b) wait one more time for the TF700 or (c) Re-evaluate the Motorola Zoom. I can't afford to have a device that doesn't work (the TF201 was to replace my Windows XP laptop as a work tool and provide me with the on-the-go video capabilities to match my road warrior life-style). Needless to say, I'm bummed.
