    HDMI port possible problem

I've received my Prime from Amazon on 12/19 and I like it. Yesterday I tried to use the micro HDMI port with a 15' cable & HDMI to Micro adapter. The connection seemed to be disconnecting as the picture on the TV would go off and on and the quality was bad. I will try a straight cable later today to see if its a cable problem or a Prime problem. One thing to note the shape of the Prime case around the port seems to interfere with the HDMI plug being fully inserted in the socket.

Has anyone else had and experience with this problem?

    Sounds like a cable problem

I'd try another one, mine outputs everything fine including 1080p

Maybe the adapter is not able to fit right into the port fully, maybe take the Prime with you to the store, I`m sure most places will let you test it on an LCD before you buy.

    Call me idiot.

Could it be the length of the cable 15'?

By any chance do you have a shorter cable?

    You are idiot

    (Sorry couldn't resist)

You could be right there, I`m using a 10ft cable and it works fine, not sure the max length of HDMI... i`ll investigate

EDIT - Reports of people using 50' cables fine with no signal loss, but I guess it will also depend on the power output of the device

Tempted, but no! If only because you are probably right. And I'm much nicer than Detection!

I must confess I was wondering the same thing. Additionally, the micro to full HDMI adaptor would be a potential issue. I tried the same with my tf - the adaptor I got was so poor, it destroyed two perfectly good HDMI leads, didn't work and was duely returned. I bought a mini to full HDMI cable & it worked perfectly, first time.

There are some issues with some TV's taking an HDMI signal. Seems to be a handshake issue. I have not tried with my Prime but I have a Samsung TV that would randomly lose the HDMI signal or sound from my FIOS box. A firmware update was needed and once I updated the firmware on the TV, my issues went away, Not saying that is the same problem you are having but might want to check and make sure your TV has the most up to date firmware. Most newer TV's have some way to update the firmware via Internet or USB.

Where did you get the hdmi cable? Based on reviews on Amazon, many cheap 10-15' cables work only part of the time. When it comes to cable quality, you get what you pay for (if you leave out the overpriced $29.99 ones at Best Buy ).

I'll find out tonight I have a new cable being delivered today, a one piece so there wont be any adapters to play with I'll let you know if that solves the problem.
