Oooh. I am going to try that... Also, there is some sort of Firmware recovery business that you can get to by doing the vol down and power and the before it leaves the EEpad menu press up volume. I ma going to see if it tries to read a firmware update off an SD card in that situation (I may be way off) ;-)
Edit: Can't install the driver on my windows 7 box to connect to the pad.
Edit Edit: Downloading driver from ASUS site

Ok I am running the update now, sort've wish i had seen this thread first. One thing is for sure I ain't touching it for at least 5 minutes now. ATM the update has been downloaded, installed and is now rebooting. Fingers crossed.
Update1: So much for my not touching it. I guess there is more than one update. It just finished the first and went back to the home screen. I have 2 notifications for a camera update an eepad service update. I may wait a few minutes here before I proceed since you guys have me spooked.
Update2: I think I noticed a few more default apps and/or different icons - themes. I have also noticed it appears to be faster when moving screen to screen. Still haven't done the other updates.
I am trying to decide if I should do the camera first (since it is first choice on the notification bar) or the "service" update. I don't usually do these updates without first knowing what they are for so maybe I deserve what i get for breaking that rule
Update3: I had no issues. Rebooted, ran some apps, checked out connectivity, and am now updating this via my TPrime.
Update4: I don't believe these 3 issues are related to the updates however: I noticed (1) that the tegraZone app keeps force closing (I never used it before today so ..) (2) When using GPS Essentials app the compass is way off, I may need to calibrate it maybe affected by GPS update? (3) My tapatalk app has force closed twice
Again not sure these "issues" if you can call them that were present before the update.

Prime is not registering on my PC to give me the option to try that.

Ok so now I'm freaked out. I just woke up. What should I do? I don't want to brick my device! Should I update?

Hi:
I just ran the update on a 32gb CG Prime before reading the second post in the thread but thankfully it ran without a hitch. It didn't take an hour as warned, seemed more like ten minutes. The Prime was fully charged and plugged in when I ran the update.

It's your call but I would wait a little while to see how this shakes out. Too many bricked devices so far.

@then did you do the camera second? I am also plugged mine in before starting and have it sitting next to the WiFi AP.

Strange, I have a windows 7 unit and it pops right up as a separate drive. I believe it is Drive J but I'm not home to verify on my machine. You have the charging cable plugged into the Prime on one end and the USB end plugged into a USB port? If so try a different port.

I think it requires the Android OS to be up and running and we can't get that far. It says that it it "failing to start" in the device manager. Oh Well. It was a good suggestion. I am trying the vol up thing now as a last chance.
