Rear camera megapixels?

For some reason I thought the Primes rear camera was 8m. Using the stock camera app it only let's me choose 6m as Max. Any reason why?

Are you confusing MB with Mega Pixels?

If it says 6mb, it is probably an 8 MegaPixel photo that is 6 MegaBytes. The truth is in the pixels in the photo. Look at the properties of a picture. It will have x pixels by y pixels. Take x*y/1,000,000 and get your megapixels.

Sorry meant to say mega pixels not mb. Just took a picture and it was 3264 x 1836 which roughly comes to 6 mega pixels. Can someone take a look at their Prime stock camera app and see if then choose an option larger then 6 mega pixels?

It depends on the Aspect ratio you select in the Camera settings. 16:9 is 6M and 4:3 is 8M.
