I am new to the whole Android thing, my prime should arrive this week and I hear the upgrade should happen late January.
Is it safe to buy what I need off the android store now or should I wait? Is it normal for anything that is compatible with Honeycomb to work on ICS? I understand there will be software optimized for ICS at a later date, but if I buy something now, upgrade, could i potential lose that software?
thanks.
Sorry I think you mis-understood. Are programs made for honeycomb compatible with ICS. So if i buy them now, they won't work when ICS comes out.
I think it all depends on if the developers of the apps that you purchase send out updates to make the apps compatible with ICS. I think it's safe to say that eventually all of the app will be compatible. For instance, some of the apps I have, have had updates so that that they are ICS compatible. You should be fine.
to answer the question in bold; not really & it depends.. i say that because some apps (none ICS apps) are working fine with my phone and some aren't
that's the bad news, the good news is once the developers update their apps to support ICS; you'll be able to update your app(s) to take advantage of ICS

Normally all the apps should be compatible. I have the Asus transformer and the Nexus S phone. I've recently updated my phone manually to ICS and all the apps I had on my smartphone are just working fine on ICS. I would'nt worry about honeycomb apps not working with ICS.
Didn't see this thread. Anyone find a way to update the Prime to ICS?
Thanks...
