This is the best news we have heard yet. If Asus is taking responsibility for the bad units it means they are aware of it and at least think most if not all of the US units should be good to go. Worst case scenario is we get a recall too.

All the new units will have a second antenna so they all should be up and running out of the box

Seems strange that they would need two. Unexpected interference from other components I suppose.

The aluminum case interferes with the RF signal. That's just the nature of making a metal case.

And a lack of homework on Asus part. Not being critical but history is useful in avoiding other's mistakes as well as repeating your own. Strange that they had only sent out 300 for a first batch to retailers. So either they are low balling the 300 number to save some face or they really aren't very prepared for very many sales again just like their 1st Transformer and we will be hunting those until March!
Current Devices:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - iPad 4 - Samsung Galaxy S4

Nice to see ASUS take charge and be proactive early on.
The slight delay in inventory to make sure all units in the field are OK demonstrates a sound practice that is customer-centric.
As someone else mentioned, the different construction of the PRIME (compared to the original Transformer) likely mandates the dual antenna to assure a solid WIFI signal.

I agree with all you guys the only thing i'm concerned with is the wifi range. I'll be good at home but i spend a lot of time in hotels and sometimes their wifi isn't the greatest. i'd hate to have to tether to my slow as balls sprint internet.

* The 1st release of the prime has already two antenna , the issue is that the second is not working.
