Finally! New root method for TF201- one click! (also works on 300 and 700)
Been busy for a while and miss these forums but I just ran across this post on another forum at this Link. This method requires you to download the new motochopper zip file and has been confirmed to root the TF201, 300 and 700 even with Android 4.2! and will not touch the bootloader. So now you can root without unlocking which is what I've been waiting for. Make sure to install voodoo rootkeeper to keep root through future updates. This method should make a lot of folks happy!

Apparently this works on the new MeMo range as well - someone posted that in that section, too.
Thanks for the heads up.

Wait... So if you can root without unlocking the bootloader, does that mean you could still receive OTA updates?

Yes you can. Just make sure you have rootkeeper installed.

Just curious, how about the TF101?

It probably will. They say just try it, it won't hurt anything, just succeed or fail. If it works spread the word.

You're probably right, and I hate to admit it, but I'm chicken, had a bad rooting experience in a former life! I'm sure another member will come along to carry the 101 torch!

Just got finished rooting mine. Had problems updating drivers on pc, then ran the file and rebooted prime and voila! Got root. Very painless, all automatic. Don't be chicken, it can't hurt anything.

Wasn't painless for me.. but maybe I learned something..then again maybe not.
The tool itself ran just fine for me but, I didn't get root back. SuperSU installed just fine but when it went to update binary.. Failed!
Found the XDA thread in the TF300 forum and around 7 or 8 pages in there was someone who had the same problem as I did.
I had root and a backup of root with Voodoo OTA but when I updated to JB something went wrong and root didn't restore. (As I remember it was something that was patched in Voodoo OTA to correct this problem.)
This left me with partial root access but no permissions to use root or anything. This seems to have borked the new root method but there is hope.
using the adb shell and following the commands listed in the posts from the XDA thread I managed to get to my root backup and restore my root access, then I followed the steps posted at Root Transformer Prime After Jellybean 4.1.1 Update Matt Hill's Blog To restore full root access to the pad itself.
I then went and switched to SuperSU and canned Superuser, Mainly because that's what I have on my phone and I already have the pro version of it.
So in all my ramblings there in... Today wasn't such a bad day after all.
Now off to reinstall all my root apps.. AdAway here I come!
