However rumor is that if you have rooted AND unlocked bootloader, then over-the-air updates won't work at all.

So yes, it does seem rootkeeper can keep root, but not on an unlocked device.
If you root on. 15 use root keeper and then ota to. 21 with locked bootloader it works fine no issue. It the easiest and safest way. If you are on. 21 look in above post and good luck and be careful.

I read the OP over on XDA, and the discoverer of this exploit mentions a factory wipe after downgrading.

If it were me? I'd do a wipe before and after-- just in case.
TF101 B70 series, USA running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3, rooted. 64gb microSDXC, keyboard dock with 32gb microSDHC in an adapter
Dell Streak 7 running Honeycomb 3.2, rooted. 64gb SDXC. Mainly used as a music player.
Virgin Mobile Optimus Slider, rooted -- frequently used as WiFi hotspot. 16gb microSDHC.

its a good idea bob, but I wanted to keep my programs and android experience. You can keep that intact and have good performance with Wolfs method.

I've found you actually don't need to factory reset unless you're going way back. If you're just running .21 to .15 and back to .21. Your on the same base. So I kept all my programs all my data, but I did a hard reset then went into ROM TOOLBOX and wiped data, caches, battery stats there. It is very fast. I wasn't expecting 1.6 on four cores on .21 to be this fast but it is, seems quite a bit faster than same speed on .15.

FYI while you are in ROM TOOLBOX changing SD BOOST to 4096kbs will enable a faster SD I/O experience. Its so nice to have root back...

A new direct method of rooting .21 without downgrading has just been discovered at this link. Originally discovered for the TF300 on .29 it is reported to work on the TF201 also. This will require the use of adb. I'll probably wait until a one click method is developed and tested.
