the easiest way is to set up a personal hot spot on your phone, then all you need to do is to use the wi-fi from the phone and surf the net.
Most android and iPhones have the ability to generate this personal hot spot.

No. It just goes on the phone. Turns the phone into a normal everyday wpa router as far as most things are concerned. It has worked well for me.

    Replying to the original question:

The first thing I did when I unboxed my prime was root it and make a complete dump of the top of the flash memory with the bootloader, kernel, and system image of Honeycomb. This could be used to restore the factory-fresh state. Let me know if you really want this and I can upload it somewhere. It would be a risky restore through, you would have to run dd if=image of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 and if anything went wrong you could really hard-hard-brick the thing with no chance of recovery.

edit: My image is for a 64GB US model, chances are it wouldn't work on anything else.

Thank you all for the help a d I guess I'll just be waiting patiently these next few weeks until ASUS unlocks the bootloader... did someone say if the phone has ics and is rooted then I can tether? Right now my DroidX has encounterICS on it... Thanks guys!

Hey, it looks like someone from XDA finally found a way to downgrade using the official Asus images. So if you still want to do it this looks like the best bet:
How to apply the US 9.4.2.13 update to a non-US TFP - xda-developers
