Using an Easy ACC external charging unit for Tf201

    Hi,

I've purchased an external battery charge unit and wanted to know if anyone else has issues with using it to charge batteries for the Asus Transformer TF201. It has USB ports for 1A, 1.3A & 2.1A charging. Works fine with my cellphone but haven't been able to get it to work with the tablet. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

It won't work if it can't output at least 12v DC and really needs 15v.

Thanks. I should have checked DC output before purchase but it's still a great unit.

Welcome to the forum JPB53 -- you may want to have a look at the extensive Battery Use Guide link in my signature below. Lots of information on the care and feeding of the Li-On batteries in the Asus Transformers.

You'll probably find it will charge your TF, but only at 2-4% per hour, with the screen off & not when attached to the dock...

And another recommendation from me to read the battery guide mentioned by Swipe...

My Prime is 2 1/2 years old and have never had any problems with it. Still love it and use it every day.

My ASUS charger that came with my Prime apprently bit the dust a week ago as the little orange charging indicator would not come on and it also didn't show in the status window as charging. I was hopeful that the problem was either the charger or the detachable cord. Otherwise I'd need to think about replacing my Prime which I can ill afford to do at the moment.

Interesting that I ran across this thread becasue I just purchased this from Amazon.
    It is:
    EasyAcc US 40Pin 15V 1.2A AC Adapter Wall Charger for ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101, Prime TF201, SL101, Pad 300 TF300 TF700T-with EMI CORES:1.6M

I knew from this forum that the Prime need more voltage than most mobile devices so my device specific search on Amazon returned a number of choices.

I plugged it in to the dock which was attached to the tablet.
The dock's battery was totally drained and the tablet was at 40% at the time (I was using it sparingly until the replacement arrived).
Both units were full within a few hours.

I also had always wanted a car charger for my Prime and another of the search results was this:

Pwr+ Extra Long Cord Combo Rapid Car Charger and Ac Adapter for Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tf101 A1 B1 ; Transformer Prime Tf201 & Tf300t Tf300tl

The fact that it also had a wall charger was a bonus becasue now I have one at home and at the office.

I tested both and they work (lights up the charging indicator).
But since my Prime was fully charged from the Easy ACC one I haven't looked to see if it's fast enough.

Really nice thing was that both items were Amazon Prime (coincidental ehh?) eligible so no shipping cost and I received in 2 days.
The Easy ACC untit cost $13.90 and the Pwr+ duo chargers were $19.90.

Much less than replacing the tablet!

EWW! Just noticed my devices in my sig block are out of date.
    I'll fix that shortly.
    Swipe and leeshor like this.
