    Dongle dock cable

Ya gotta love the name if nothing else. I need to use the dock with the dongle as I take notes when looking at property and find handwriting/typing on the tablet very inefficient. I was thinking that if ASUS made a cable that attached from the charging port on the dock to the pin connector on the dongle, I could still put the tablet in the dock and use all three. If my dock and tablet are fully charged, I shouldn't need to use the charging port on the dock for 5 to 6 hours. Has anyone seen a cable like this? I assume the connector pin configuration is proprietary to ASUS.

We had a thread a while ago asking about this. So far, one does not exist. You would have to get the male and female parts and then make a cable. Using the existing USB would not even work as it only has 9 pins in it and to function you would have to make up all 40 pins to get the full functionality. That is a lot of fine soldering if you ask me.

What I think would be sweet is if the keyboard dock also had a Bluetooth radio to function as a bluetooth keyboard and you would not need a cable to connect the two and it would work.

But, I just do not see that happening either.

You can likely order both the male & female parts from Mouser electronics (google to find).

But as Frederuco points out? Lots of very, very fine soldering by hand, not to mention 40 fine wires to connect... the whole would be quite bulky.

If you look at this picture You can see only a hand full of wires need to be soldered. That hould be not too hard.

However the problem is getting the male and feemale part.
Perhaps this would work.. You could always cut the cable and check to shee wheich wires still need to bee conected.

Interesting. Am I to believe that the Asus dock and Apple dock connectors are physically identical?

I can guarantee you that they are not identical. I have an iPhone and the connectors do not fit in each others ports.
