Got the dongle!
I applied over the website a day after the applications opened, got a phone call last week, and it arrived today!
Sweet!
Now what? Not quite sure, to be honest. I've attached it, and at least I can fit it on while still having the case on. It seems a bit weird that the screws are on the inside, facing you as you look at the screen. But never mind.
Does it work? Well I'm not sure because I still can't get a signal inside my office. I don't know if it should work straight out or if I need to get some sort of software update. I looked at the asus support site and there was nothing there for 'GPS dongle' so I assume that its not necessary and that you just have to have your software up to date (which I think mine is).
Will try it later on outside and report back.

I stand corrected! Just checked and now the GPS dongle enhanced tablet was picking up 8 and using 5 of them to fix the position.
I say 'was' because after waking up my tablet from the screen saver, it lost them again. It came back online but could only see 5-6 satellites, but for some reason is not using them to fix the position. I even turned the wifi off so that it forces the machine to use GPS, but the 'GPS essentials' ap that I'm using still reports that its using wifi as the location provider
Maybe this is all due to me being inside a big concrete building. I just hope it works okay in a car.

GPS is meant to used outside not in an office.. IMO you can not expect it to work properly if at all in a building.. JMO..

seaham you are so right my garmin sometimes dosent have a signal in my house (if i try to set location before i hit the road).

Is the dongle as shown in the previous pics? Looks a bit on the large size if so! Thanks

It certainly is sja001.
Hideous looking thing to stick on the sleek looking prime!
At the least, I'll be painting the screws! Although I'm not that fussed, happy to use the extension, but I've got a bluetooth GPS receiver which works extremely well with my prime.

Mine came today via FedEX. I tried it in the house and was able to get a satellite fix, which I could never do before. Outside (and in the car) it is accurate to less than 10 feet according to the GPS test app. Drove around the neighborhood watching my position on the Google maps app -- very accurate. When I returned, I enabled the satellite overlay in Google maps and zoomed in on my house and lot -- walked around the yard and I could tell where I was within around 3 feet judging from the display.
It is more accurate than my Garmin receiver, but not as convenient of course. Since I have only WIFI I did not try to navigate which would need to have a data connection. I doubt if I will use it much -- the Garmin is designed for navigation and has lifetime maps and traffic updates. It contains complete maps for US and Canada and doesn't require a connection. I paid about $130 for the Garmin (Nuvi 1450LMT model) after it was replaced by a newer model.
But it was fun to try out the Prime and its new GPS receiver. I was surprised that I could get a fix in my house, which is all brick. I've lived here for 47 years and pretty much know my way around the house (grin). I'll save you the math -- I'm in my mid 70's and still trying to figure out why I need a tablet.

Mine shiwed up today as well. 0 satellite in view without it, 15 seen 10 locked in about 10 seconds
