You made a good point about the t100 rednroll. It definitely has the correct switch inside to go to sleep in the presence of a magnetic case. You could probably do some experiments and find out.

As an interesting side note. I remember the 2012 nexus 7 having this feature and seeing an article about how to modify any case and insert a magnet to make it a sleep cover.
*I apologize for any spelng mistakes. I frequently answer questions on my phone. The content is (usually) good, but the words may not be intelligible. If you cant understand my post... check back later or call me out on it.

I have a "poetic" case for my TF701 and it DOES put my tablet to sleep when I close, and wakes my tablet when I open the cover...very sweet indeed!

Which model of the case is that? The ony Poetic case I managed to find after a short search is one which is designed for a TF701 with a keyboard dock.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to test this out yet. I don't have a magnet laying around.

I did do some more research and found some more information.

What I learned is that on the TF700, for the sleep to work you have to have the keyboard attached. Something about just having the dock attached "enables" the switch functionality where on the TF700 the dock has a magnet in it and when closed the TF700 then goes to sleep.

On the TF701 it seems it doesn't need the dock to be attached and there is a magnetic switch that is always enabled.

Here's a post I found on the XDA forums.

Don't know if someone is interested in this, but due to this thread I was able to locate the hall sensor position of my TF701T. Obviously it is the same as of the TF700T. Without anything docked I am able to put the TF701T to wake and sleep with a little magnet.

That is the case....it can be used with or without the keyboard....without the keyboard it has a magnetic closure that somehow activates the tablet sleep switch. Poetic Slim Book case for TF701t

    Thanks Kyle.
That, and with Rednroll's post, it seems the 701 is different from the 700 in this respect.

Yikes!!! I found a small magnet in my tool box, and got some results I didn't expect to get.

Holding the TF701t in landscape mode.
At 1st I found I was able to put the TF701t to sleep 3 separate times, by placing the magnet near the right dock mount but I wasn't able to bring it back out of sleep.

I also found there are 2 small magnets on the right edge of the screen, towards the middle.

Then I got a notification to update an app, and selected yes. The update started and then my TF701t, screen just went black. I tried holding the power button to turn it back on but nothing. Now when looking close at the screen, I can see the TF701t is actually turned on, and when I adjust the volume I hear sound....but it seems like the backlight of my screen is no longer working.

    What the heck just happened???

If you want a cover that works with the TF701T with and without the dock .... (Tablet & Mobile Accessories - ASUS Transformer Pad TransCover - ASUS)

I have this case and the caseen ... the problem I have had with the caseen is that it seems to cause my keyboard dock to disconnect more often ... so I rarely use it ...

Unfortunately, it looks like I now have bigger problems than trying to get a case that puts my TF701t in and out of sleep mode. My screen is no longer working.
