Has any body else had these strange things happen since the last firmware update.

I just received the update last night, so I haven't had too much time to play with the tablet. I noticed the same thing with how 4.4 is treating the SD cards. I like the Gallery much better than 4.3. I'll find out this afternoon if it's more stable, but it is much easier to find and see what videos I have loaded.

As a speculation ; it took Asus 9-10 months to update the 701 to android 4.4. Android L. 4.5 is going to be in just 2-3 months. Anyone on here think we'll get 4.5 before the end of the year?

I highly doubt it. Their update cycle has been atrocious for the last year....

Its sad to see the change in ASUS' update frequency over the past year. It used to be pretty good. Bow Samsung who historically was last to roll out updates for its tablets is starting to get much better.

Changing the questions slightly. Who on here thinks we will ever see android L by ASUS? Do you think it will fix some of kit Kats problems? What are some things that will be big improvements over 4.4?

We just GOT 4.4!!!! And already your pining for L????
    What Kitkat problems?
L hasn't been released - so how would we know for sure?
One thing I expect: It will get harder and harder to unlock and/or root Android devices. Google is clamping down on security and the SD card bs in KK is just the beginning.....

Problems with sd card for one. I think I'm gonna be happy with 4.3 and forget about anything newer for a while!

My opinion - Asus Android L on the TF701 - never happen... well less than a 10% chance anyway.

My prediction about the direction of Android...

It will stop being Android and become firmly Google's version of Apple. And for most of the keen Android users that will mean it will become controlled, locked down, inflexible & not popular any more. Rooting will become almost a thing of the past & become as warranty voiding and detectable as Jailbreaking an Apple device. Even if it can be done.

No doubt about it, in my mind Google are tightening their grip over this original "open source" project - for very good commercial reasons. If you stay with the Google programme, you'll be as tied to Google as folks say Apple users are tied to Apple.

Just my opinion & prediction... (& with no value judgements either!)

Has anyone tried this? I emailed their support and they said downgrade was not possible. There are enough limitations with 4.4.2, that ASUS chose to keep, others haven't (Dell's 4.4.2 with other problems, and Cyanogenmod) but would consider a downgrade if that was possible. I would consider this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Gary
