Been about a day. Any update on the questions at hand ( does it break towelroot, does it break sd card, what type of features does it add, does the tablet move any faster)?

Can anyone say if there were problems with this? I don't want to repeat the ICS update on my TF101, that practically bricked it. I lived with a tablet that randomly crashed or rebooted for over a year before getting this. I told myself I would never install another update without being certain it was safe.

Surprised no more users reporting in. I saw the almost 500mb update ( I'm in USA) but as I said above I chose not to download it.

Just got my tablet back from asus repair/purgatory ..... I had already factory reset the device prior to giving it to them, and on power up it told me of the update. Upgrade went in smooth and clean, and so far no issues. I have to go through and update apps and get everything back together and will try out the sd card and other things when I get the cycles. Though I think the first thing I am going to do is enable ART and get rid of dalvik ..... and see how that rides ... will update (and the other threads where I owe a response) later this week.

The new Zen UI is boring and the color scheme is to light. The notifications get washed out. Otherwise very snappy and buttery smooth. The revamped settings is a surprise.

    Hello, tegelad,
What was it in repair for? Anxiously awaiting a report about ART. I GOOGLED and the one article claims most android 4.4 devices don't even give ART as an option...

I have the option on my phone....actually rumour has it that google will remove the dalvick option in the coming-sometime-to-a-device-near-you L release.

ART Android Run Time -- In KITKAT 4.4

There are many articles on ART found by searching.

None of these seem to say ART only runs on a select few devices. In fact, it should run on almost all. HTC seems to be one on which it doesn't.

The power port was starting to excessively wiggle. I had a similar condition on an old Droid X, which was the precursor of losing the power plug in. The docking ports and power port also had some bends in it. From what I have seen the docking ports have to absorb alot of stress, and the metal though reinforced still is a pretty thin piece of metal. They straightened them out and appears to have reinforced the plug.

Other devices I would have given up on ... however, the performance of this tablet is just amazing. I had to do a system wipe, do a towelroot on my old Xyboard, and strip alot of apps away, and then throw the governer to performance. This allowed me to use the tablet; however, I had to consistently swipe the background apps and then do a global app nuke to force a GC .. couple that with the 4.75-6 hour tablet battery life.... I found having to use my Xyboard 10 and 8 just to get through the day (plugging the alternate tablet in to charge while I used the other one).

I just noticed that ART doesn't exist on the samsung and asus device ... The performance bump on my droid razr maxx hd moving from 4.1 > 4.4 > 4.4-art is just amazing. It went from a nearly unusable device (due to system memory shortages) to very much relevant.
