Check out Cerberus. Best lost device locator I have tried.

Just updating this thread to report that I have not had the severe battery drain for the last 10 days or so. No new apps installed, however there's been numerous app updates that auto installed. Also, I wish to note that I now have a microsD that is always plugged in.

Since my last post I have had no battery drain problems, however I also have not used netflix on my tablet at all since I know that is at least one cause of the drain. About 2 weeks now with no drain and no restarts!

Am not much of a forum user, but wish I was...
Ending up here through Google search for problems after updating my TF701 to Android 4.4.2 like all of you.
I am so frustrated, I really wish I had read this forum prior to accepting to update.
My TF701 on Android 4.3 was the best mobile device I ever owned. So incredibly good, functional and prductive.
Mainly using it professionally, being on the road all the time.

I am not saying it is bad now, but I definetely like it a lot less now.
Main issue, like with a lot of other people on this forum is battery life!!
This used to be the absolute number one reason for liking the TF701 so much. I could take it on the road for 3 days straight on without charging.
It now lasts me about a day / day and half max with the exact same use.
Battery life vital to me and the main reason I bought it.

Besides battery life, I also don't like the changes in layout.
Even though not vital to the functioning of the TF701 it bothers me a lot.
Mainly the notification bar where previously you could have split pulldown menus (notifications on left / system settings and info on right), now it doesnt matter whether you pull down left or right menu, you get the menu in the middle. Hate it. Also it doesnt show same fuctions anymore. It used to show tablet + dock battery status when pulling down menu, now you can only have percentages on permanently in status bar. Again, not a vital issue, but I want it the way it was.

Am sure that legally all this must be covered (ticking all kinds of 'yes, I accept...' buttons), but morally I feel like my device has been broken / stolen by Asus. I paid a lot of money for a device that has worked for me close to perfection for over half a year. By what right Asus can just come along and change my device into what it is today. There really should be a kind of 'back' option for these kind of updates. I am going to try to return it to the shop I bought it from and ask them if they will replace with one from stock still running 4.3.
Don't get me wrong, it is still a great device, but definetely not as good as it was before update. Shouldn't updates mean progress / improvement? In this case, definetely not.
Should have obeyed the golden expression 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I've been experiencing the battery drains off and on. Last night went from 96% to 33% this morning. Only apps I had opened (in background) were Adobe Reader and Chrome. Something is obviously not letting it sleep. Biggest battery user is Kernel (Android OS).

You folks may want to look into an app called Greenify. It can identify any apps that automatically run upon powering up your device. In settings>apps>running you will see a list of apps --- some may be Greenify "hibernate" candidates. Also in the Developer Options you can reduce the background process limit which has been known to help. (Search for Developer Options - see the search tip linked below -)

Interesting you mention Chrome - there is a massive thread/s going in the Windows T100 section complaining about how Chrome depletes battery life very badly even when not running.

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

Just pointing out that it is GOOGLE not Asus that builds the basic Android versions. That is how you ended up with the pulldown menus changed, etc. Nothing to do with Asus as far as I know. See my post about Greenify, developer options, and check into what apps/processes you have running on your tablet. Avoid using Chrome for instance until it is fixed.
