I'm not sure about everyone else, but my keyboard issues have gotten much better since the update to kit kat. the connection between the dock and tablet doesn't drop nearly as much as it did before. I know it doesn't make much sense as it's a hardware issue. I'm not complaining, that's for sure. Just curious if anyone else is seeing the same.

Yes I had this problem. I did a full reset as described in this forum and by ASUS support. It solved the installation problems.

I've noticed that some apps fail to install complaining about access problems to the SD card. I unmount the SD card and then install, and it works fine.

Yes it is the the new permissions Google have enforced since Kitkat 4.4. It's not Asus' fault - app developers need to update their apps so they request permissions from within the app to write the card.

Only fix at the moment is to root and hack it yourself or install a custom rom.

    Update on battery drain issue:

Well, I spoke too soon. The drain started happening today again just when I thought I had found the problem...

A quick examination of WakeLock Detector showed me that the tablet was awake 99.7% of the time it should have been sleeping in the past 2 hours, draining it 15%. Unfortunately it didn't tell me what caused it. Only showing my mail program as one source but only for a total of roughly a minute.

I opened power management and looked at the power consumption table since last unplugged and it shows Google Play Services as the main drain. After some searching on the internet I came up with this bunch of links that explain the issue, also in 4.4.2, of course.

Here is a link to the solution I am currently trying which uses Xposed Framework and WakeLock Terminator (both require ROOT).

So did you try the Google Play Services suggested in your "bunch of links" that doesn't require root?

Sorry, one more question, has anyone tried GServiceFix for the Google Play Services drain?

Related to GServiceFix some say it is great, others say it is a scam. Any ideas?

Nope, it's not a fix to remove all updates from the Google Play Services. In fact, it prevents you from downloading and using certain apps as it mentions in that "fix" unless you are referring to something else but your post isn't entirely clear so I'm just guessing.

Never heard of it before this post but I found it on the AppStore and I tend to agree that it's a scam because it just makes you restart your device which can temporarily fix the drain. Also "maybe" having to run it more than once for it to work.. lol. Yeah.

For now I'm testing the Xposed Framework and WakeLock Terminator method. Tablet slept almost 10 hours with 0% drain last night. I will be using it daily and if things change will post here.

    UPDATE on battery drain issue:

It's been over 2 days since I installed WakeLock Terminator as described here and so far so good. I've closed apps using task manager and swiped them away using the Recent Apps button just to keep the test proper and still 0% drain when the tablet has not been in use and no WakeLocks detected. This is with Wifi on all the time and my email app checking mail every 10 minutes, same as my previous tests.

For those of you who are not rooted you can always try the method of uninstalling the updates to Google Play Services via your Settings->Apps->All but I have read that some apps may not run or install without the services updated. I have not tried this method myself either since I'm already rooted. If anyone would care to give it a go and post results I'm sure others with this issue would appreciate it! Thanks.

Is this the free version from play store? It got some bad reviews but perhaps they didn't know how to use it or it wasn't rooted???

Yes it's free for use with ONE app which is all you need. The people who said it doesn't work probably didn't enable it in the Xposed framework before rebooting their device. If you don't check it in Xposed it can't work.
