Question Miracast and WiFi at same time?

    Hi.

I've bought the Asus Miracast dongle for my TV which I use in combination with the TF701T.
    This feature works fine.

What isn't advertised or shown (anywhere that I could see on the Miracast dongle page) is the fact that your WiFi is disabled when you connect the pad to the TV using Miracast.
I know that the video signal requires a lot of bandwidth, but I was still disappointed that I couldn't go online while connected to the TV.

TLDR: Is it possible to buy a USB WiFi adapter and use this to connect to the internet while miracast is occupying the built in Wifi of the pad?

Wait....I thought they (miricast) and wifi used different spectrum 2.2 vs. 5ghz? So there's no workarounds as far as wireless goes?

I've called Asus and asked them if it was possible, but they couldn't confirm nor deny it since they haven't officially tested it themselves.
I was hoping someone that has a wifi dongle could test it so I wouldn't have to buy one :-)

I wonder if you can disable this if you have root? since the two are on totally different frequency why would they do this? Is it a limit from the hardware asus is using? (inside the tablet)?

    Bumping this thread.
Am I the only one here that have encountered this issue?
How about the ones that are using Chromecast? Isn't that a similar technology?

As far as I know this is how Miracast is supposed to work.

Whilst I don't know of any way around it I somehow managed to retain an internet connection the first time I mirrored the screen of a Hudl onto my TV, so it must be possible. Unfortunately it 'fixed' itself after that and I haven't been able to do it since.
