    Random reboots anyone?

According to Bootlog Uptime, out of a total time of 7d 4h 44m uptime, I have had the following crashes:

    - 1d 20h CRASH
    - 0d 21h CRASH
    - 4d 11h CRASH

I think I achieved the last magnificent total of over 4 days because I haven't docked the thing.

This reminds me of the terrible random rebooting problem with the TF101.

Anyone else getting this sort of problem?

(As against which, my Sammy Note 8.0 is going strong with 405 hours on the clock)

I haven't seen it with my setup; however, I have seen a few conditions where the battery widget and battery % systray widget stopped performing. The only thing of note with the tablet is that I know I factory reset it after the last update ... this is a step I have sadly found necessary on nearly every android implementation since the 2.0 days ....

Thanks for that reply - I have just factory reset the thing and will see how I go. I think you are right about Android needing that after updates. My Sammy S3 was losing 30-40% overnight off the charger after the last "upgrade"; following a factory reset, it has returned to the normal few percent overnight loss and is now lasting a whole weekend again without charge (and minimal use).

Let's see - I do love the tab, apart from the flickering screen, and the weak audio, and the weak dock link, but apart from those features, it is great ;-)

The issue with OTA kernel updates with android has been you are not 100% guaranteed that your TCP transmission made it 100% with no checksum errors, and given Android's faux-virtual memory system is not like a traditional unix {i.e. is a register swapping OS} ... I think certain bits and configurations don't get converted over perfectly 100% from the upgrade ... and hence "bad days for us" ....

I do agree with you the tablet is pretty awesome ... I just wish it had 4G like my Xyboard or Xoom used to have ... and the speakers .... my goodness ... someone should have really remembered stereophonic came in the 1970's ....

Having factory reset, I no longer seem to have the reboot problem - I m up to 3.5 days now, and my my Sammy Note 8.0 has just rebooted after 450 hours so anything now is not too unusual.

    Thanks

HA hahaha! Totally agree with you on the lack of SIM card support and weak audio.

I am now at 5 days continuous uptime, so it looks like the factory reset did the trick. Annoying to have to load everything again and go through all the settings doing my preferences, but it has apparently worked.

It went down after 8 days which isn't bad. I'm convinced it is linked somehow to charging through the dock. I'll keep testing.

This IS a random rebooter - since re-setting to factory defaults:

    8d 21h 7m - Crash!
    3d 8h 37m - Crash!
    0d12h 40m - Crash!

The last just now at my desk. I am convinced that the problem is charging the thing when connected to the dock: as soon as the power in the tablet reaches 100%, as it did just now, it reboots.

I'll keep it under review, but that seems to be the problem.

Mods - someone seems to have put "solved" at the head of this post, but I don't think this is solved at all and is still open.
