    Disappearing notification and menu bar

The swipe-down notification box and the bottom swipe-up menu bar to close apps or move within Nougat 7.1.1 on my TF 700 have suddenly disappeared. Is there some setting I mis-keyed or what what might have happened? I've performed numerous hard reboots w/o improvement. BTW, does it matter if such reboots start at TeamWin or directly at KatKiss? It seems they finalize in KatKiss anyway.

It shouldn't matter, but it's always a good idea to boot cold, that is, from a power-off state. Try settings>system UI tuner, play with that. Does this happen with just one app, or all the time including your home screen? Some apps may force immersive mode.

It's called Immersive Mode and it's a feature
Pull down the Quick Settings from the left and look for the tile. You probably inadvertently engaged it. BTW, if you like the extra real estate, in Settings > User Interface you can define which bars to hide in Immersive Mode. You can even force apps to use it, hint: Netflix?
To your second question: Define "hard reboot"
If you reboot from the Power menu or TWRP does not make a difference either way.

Thanks guys. I think Immersive Mode may be the problem. I remember touching a little icon in the pull-down notification box a few days ago. Unfortunately, there is no Quick Settings that pulls down on my Home Screen now and the only place i can find System U/I is in the apps listing and don't see a way to change any options of relevance. I've go through every heading under the normal Settings menu and find no indication of Immersive Mode anywhere else. Also, about this time I got a notice to reset my Super User and I did. I don't know if that's tied in as well.

What? Even with Immersive mode engaged you should be able to pull down the notification panels from the top.
    You are saying you can't?
No idea why not, so my advice would be to reflash rom and gapps (and SuperSU if you want root) wiping only cache and Dalvik.

That's got me too. Nothing in Settings? AFAIK you have to have KatKiss to get Nougat and it's there on mine. So, what @DB said above.

I looked and XDA and there is discussion about 7.1.2, but I'm uncertain if it's a reliable version or just a beta. What are your recommendations as long as I'm flashing it?

You're the only one who can make that decision. Are you willing to put up with the occasional bug, want to help track it down, or just want stable performance? The absolute latest isn't necessarily the absolute best. But there's only one way to really find out.

If you want to stay on Nougatella flash the latest version. It has the latest bug fixes although sometimes also new ones 😀
But Tim dies not release betas. His roms work.
