Automatic downloads on boot (TF700 Nougat)

There were a couple threads a few years ago about trying to manage slow booting on older ROMs because of those automated strings of updates hogging the memory, and I'm wondering if there have been any recent improvements or apps that help. Usually I run my TF700 only once a day and invariably when I want to sit down and read or surf it may take 2-5 minutes before the system is ready and performing. I've disabled the apps down to only those I regularly use and I've tried Greenify but can't see that's doing anything. Is there some method to suspend the automatic searches that apps are apparently doing to check their version and let me do that when I am ready to shut down instead of at bootup? I have discovered if I Clear All open programs at shutdown, it helps some, especially if a browser is left open.

I don't know of a fix for that. But if you are actually using the TF700 every day, even if it's only once a day, why not leaving it on instead of shutting it down? I never shut down my TF700, except on relatively rare occasions where apps are seriously misbehaving and I want to do a cold start too. If you use it that rarely you won't need to charge it very often.

If you have not done so already, disable automatic updates from the Play Store.
Then go through your apps and check the settings for ways to limit or turn off updates.
Uninstall everything you don't need and use.
That's all I can think of...
