Does Nougat ROM on TF700 have USB OTG functionality?
I'm looking at a fiber optic inspection scope designed to work with android phones and tablets, but it requires USB OTG functionality. I'm wondering if my TF700 with Nougat will handle it. I don't ever remember running across anything on the tablet or on ASUS forums referencing On-The-Go technology.

A few comments...
1) You are now the proud owner of a TF700 running a custom ROM. Congratulations. That means you now need to ask these questions in the ROM section if they are ROM specific, which this is, as OTG is both hardware & software.
2) You also need to state the ROM concerned - we do know which one you hav & to be honest, there is only one, but your thread title doesn't include it and neither does your post.
All this means that I have now had to...
EDIT your thread title
POST this note
MOVE your thread to the right place
Please get it right next time - you've been here long enough to know the drill now.

Sorry, I thought the issue was inherent in the underlying hardware and capabilities of the TF700 and it's USB connection and didn't realize this is ROM related.

I did discover this in an article on whether a device supports OSB OTG or not...
The fastest and most effective solution by far is to install USB OTG Checker, a free app that quickly and effectively determines whether your Android phone or tablet supports USB OTG.
Might work, might not...
Oh & BTW, while OTG does require specific hardware, it can also be "not implemented" in the firmware of a device, so you need to have both working together.

No Google searches needed. I recently bought a USB microscope and it works with my 700. You will, however, need some sort of USB-OTG adapter. Asus makes a standalone adapter, just a dongle that sticks in the data port; or any of the docks (keyboard, connect, audio) have the USB adapter built-in. My microscope uses a very standard webcam chip, so the driver is already built into the kernel; I don't know about yours, so read the specs carefully before you put out cash. IIRC the specs on mine claim compatibility with Android 4.0 and up, and just about any other modern OS. So far it's worked on everything I've tried it on.
