    Clearing Cache

For some time I have been trying to clear the cache from some of my apps via the settings menu. But it has taken a long time for the word 'computing' to change to a value, then often when I select clear cache nothing happens, therefore I cannot complete the task.

    Anyone any ideas ?

My 700TF is as it left the factory.

Quick fix: uninstall the app & then reinstall it.

And then the question: what do you hope to accomplish with it?

Can't answer for the OP, but for myself, I've had cases where applications simply refused to work correctly, and clearing the cache fixed it. The browser, for example. would sometimes get into some mode where it failed to load a web site, as if the network was off. Clearing the cache always fixed that. That hasn't happened for quite some time though. But I've had other apps that would suddenly start to instantly crash at startup, and clearing the cache fixed that too.

Thanks for that and your very quick reply.
Even though I'm more of a Laptop person these days I still use the Tablet now and again, and it's good to know you guys are still out there for us.

Exactly! That's the situation where clearing cache makes sense: misbehaving apps.
A lot of people seem to be doing it in an effort to speed up their device. And for that it won't do a thing. Therefore my question

I tell ya - it's a tough habit to break! I've been attending meetings of Forums Anonymous every week for a year and I still can't kick it....

Well, it doesn't pay much, but on the other hand it doesn't cost much either. And no hangovers.

Generally it takes a considerable amount of time to just compute the amount of cache of the app, which is characteristic of the original TF700F.

Are you sure nothing happens? It may take some time to clear the cache or the value may not be updated at all after the clearance. Try to reload the window of the app; return to the list of apps then select the desired app again to see if the value changes.

Yes, having looked at this more closely now, I have noticed that if you return to the app the cache has often cleared. I imagine that if you clear the cache more frequently it does not take so long to do the 'computing' thing, and of course until it comes up with a value you cannot clear it.
