Firmware upgrade help with pre-owned TF700 please

    Hi
I am new to this thread or forum
My wife & I have been sharing a IPad Air for a while which is frustrating for me cause no multi user sign on
I found a Tf700t on eBay and jumped on it cause I use to have a older version which worked great
When I got this in the thing had terrible performance slow and graphics are blotchy when playing my 8 ball pool game . I can't even read this screen cause the boxes have black background that were never on the Apple version
This Tf700t has Android 4.2.1 with a weird build . I have looked around for updates and rooting on the net but links I find are 2 years old and concern me .
Can anyone point me to a viable link that I can trust and use for current today upgrade?
I just got it so back up is not a big concern nor is warranty being it is 2nd .
In the current state I can't use it cause google services eats all bandwidth on my fast wifi just to keep updating newsstand, text to speech, gps and other junk . I want the google play store and YouTube but that is unacceptable to google cause when I disable the other on the tablet nothing with google works
I would like to get this done today since I am off ? Please help !

    Welcome

I have moved your post from the new member thread where it would get lost.

You can follow our Master Help Guide for the linked threads that deal with the manual flashing of firmware.
If you want a custom ROM and/or recovery and/or root, look in the TF700 Development section.

PLEASE Search for existing threads before posting a new one. Thanks.

Your opinion matters. But should you disagree - please try not to be disagreeable

Yes, @j. has the right of it. You're not going to get it done today, though, but you might get a start on your homework. It's a rather involved process, starting with unlocking the tablet and installing a custom recovery. Here is a good place to start reading:
Beginners Guide to flashing a custom ROM on TF700T
Make sure you understand what you're doing before you do it wrong! Read first, ask questions as necessary, then start flashing. Much easier than trying to unbrick the tablet afterward.

    Thanks for the warm welcome
I got it done but had a major issue with the fastboot process PC had the device installed with drivers but in fastboot PC would not recognized the tablet at all . When I got that done it was smooth sailing took less than a hour . now has marshmallow installed and with some adjustment it is quick and responsive all in the same day . Sorry for the late post been gaming a lot

Glad it worked out for you. There is now a Nougat ROM for the 700 also, check the XDA section on the TF700t. You got over the hard part, flashing a new ROM is cake now.

Wow! From iPad Air to flashing a rom on a new Android in 5 posts....
    I am impressed! Congrats!

If you want to try Nougat, take a nandroid of the Katshmallow installation first - I keep returning to it....

Always good advice to backup before upgrade. Why MM rather than Nougat? I haven't seen a whole lot of difference. Nor, for that matter, Lollipop to Marshmallow. Now, I was glad to see the tail lights of KitKat! Those permission problems...
