[ SOLVED ] System UI Stopped

My ASUS TF700T will no longer start without the message "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped"

I have clicked the "OK" and managed to work my way to the "restore factory settings" on two occasions, but the firmware appears to be corrupt, because the error continues.

I tried to download new firmware and do the "cold boot" but as soon as the installation starts, it stops and I get a "dead" android robot with a warning sign on him... and the devise goes blank.

I've read several of the forum treads and tired everything I could to completely replace the OS/firmware, but nothing has worked.

My last version update was build JOP4DP-US_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801 I was running 4.2.1

Any advise on how to completely restore the ASUS from scratch when you can't get to any of the settings?

    Thanks much for any advise
    Terri

Did you extract the downloaded file once and put it into the root level of your internal SD?
Here's the guide to manually reflash your firmware :

I did download the file and unzipped just once. The only folders I see when I plug in the device under "internal storage" is Alarms, Android, DCIM, Download, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcasts and Ringtones. I tried putting it in the "internal storage" and I also tried using the external microSD and placing it on the card.

The file I downloaded and unzipped is US_epad-user-10.6.1.14.10.zip

I will review the guide you provided..
    Thanks

It wouldn't hurt to try restarting one more time with the SD card inserted.

    UPDATE [solved]
I used the link to the manual. There first technique did NOT work, however the second technique worked great!
Here is the portion of the manual I followed..

KEY TO SUCCESS: the step to rename the file to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and put it in the root of the extenal MicroSD

Boot Loop/No Boot Version (Can also be used to downgrade but always backup all apps and data.)

    1. Download the latest version of Android for your tablet. Make sure you download the correct SKU version.
    A. To find the SKU, go into settings, About tablet, and look for your Build Number, There are two letters (such as US,WW, TW, etc.) that is your SKU. When downloading the zip from ASUS', you must download the correct SKU zip.
    2. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
    3. Rename it to:
    A. For the TF700 and TF300: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
    B. For the TF101: E101_SDUPDATE.zip
    4. Make sure your MicroSD card is formatted Fat32. It must be Fat32 Format or it will not work.
    5. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
    6. Insert the MicroSD into the tablet
    7. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
    8. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
    9. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button (on RCK, this is your recovery which should already be selected) until you see Android logo and process bar
    10. Give the update process 5-10 minutes. It should not take longer than that. If it happens to run for more than 45 minutes to an hour, force shut down the tablet and see if it boots. If it does not, try rerunning steps 7-9.

    THANKS MUCH

You won! And thanks for letting us know, many just go on their way without bothering. Now read up on installing TWRP for next time; much less headache medicine required.
