Configuring Network Equipment using the TF700T

So I'm in the market for my first tablet. My "requirements" were to have a USB port, hdmi port, and an ethernet port (I'm picky, but as a computer tech they all seemed pretty important). The only thing I was able to find with all of these were gigabyte slate PCs, and I'm not sold on them for some reason, I can't really give a distinct reason why. I found the transformer series and they all look amazing, but alas, no ethernet port. Anyway, I figured 2 out of 3 isn't bad, especially with the separate connection dock that has more usb ports and an ethernet port.
On to my question, am I able to configure network equipment (switches, routers) using the ethernet port through the connection dock? Basically I'd just need to be able to set a static IP for the ethernet network.
I don't have to do it very often, and usually I just log in to check settings and such, but I'd much rather use a tablet rather than carry my big, heavy 17 inch Dell Inspiron around with me.

    Any input is very welcome!

    Welcome to the forum

You're right. There is no Ethernet port but I haven't found a reason for one so far and I do a ton of network configuring with my TF. There are a few USB to Ethernet adapters that work and you can get a portable router in a pinch that would allow you to WiFi to the router that is hard wired. Did that help>

Yeah, that's basically what I was thinking. I'm looking into getting the connection dock as well for a few more ports.

my only issue being that to connect into the switch at work the other day I had to manually set an IP and connect via ethernet cable. The portable router would be a relatively simple workaround though. Thank you

Here's a link to a nifty router that Asus makes. Might be useful for your needs.
