Exclamation NOT CHARGING - Charging TF700T with TF201 dock with asus stock charger

    Hi

    -- tab charges albeit slowly
-- tab&dock - tab charges (albeit seemingly very slowly) - dock does not charge even when tab at 100%
    -- checked charger with a multi-meter - it read only 5v
-- the 5v reading may not be valid as the charger may automatically switch to 5v output when not connected - but I think not:
-- whenever charging, the tab says "Not charging" - though it is charging. I've heard this is possible if the voltage is not high enough.

    Now to the point:
-- the stock, crap charger asus we get is supposed to be 5-15v
-- here is another charger I'm thinking of buying, it is a straight 15v charger:
    asus charger.jpg
    -- look at it closer:
    asus charger2.jpg
-- now, the ebay title for this charger is 15V 1.2A Power Charger AC Adapter 18W ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T TF700T TF201

but I just wanted to know if any of you might have any WARNINGS about this - since it's not 5-15v

    thanks

With nothing connected to the default Asus charger, it will show 15 VDC so something is definitely wrong with the charger.

That charger should work, so long as it is the proper plug for the TF series. The only reason the stock charger does 5/15 is because it has a USB port and you might plug other USB devices in. Since that one just has the proprietary TF series plug, it should not be an issue.

When using a USB charger in the car, it will charge slowly. 3-10% per hour, and only with the screen off (depending on if the charger is between 0.5 Amps and 2.0 Amps). It will not show charging.

IMO, the best way to charge in the car is to get a 120/220 VAC inverter and plug the indoor charger in to use it. Otherwise, you will need to find a car charger that outputs 12-15 VDC. Caseen makes a car charger here: caseen | ASUS Transformer Pad 300 Series TF300 Car Charger 15V 1.2A

I can confirm, the charger in the picture will work fine. It looks like a charger specific to our Transformer tablets; unlike the universal USB ones that come packaged with it.
