    best way to manage apps

In reading about battery drain following the Jellybean upgrade, I realized our TF700 are loaded with apps we may not want to use. What is the best way to stop their activity? Force stop or disable? Will it stay that way after cold boots? Are there good app managers that would control the bloatware that comes preloaded?

You can usually disable those apps. Settings>Apps>All>Force Stop, Clear Data/Cache, Uninstall Updates and Disable. They'll go to the bottom of the list and not appear in your App Drawer.

Thank you! Are there any circumstances when they will reactivate after being disabled?

Some member's have reported this happening, but I'm not sure why it happens.

I know (My Library) does after you do a cold boot it resets itself and I have to disable it again and delet that Alice in Wonderland book cover from Gallery as well.
Couldn't tell you about any others though but I'd assume they'd reset themselves too....its like trying to get rid of the little buggers.

Once an app has been disabled, AFAIK it should stay disabled unless for some reason a firmware update re-enables it because it is a "system" app - sometimes referred to as "bloatware".

If an app does get "re-enabled" for some reason, of course, it can always be "disabled" again.

On nearly all the system apps I have disabled they stay disabled until they get an update for that app, (seems that it isn't as disabled as I thought), then it appears enabled again. Or maybe it's just me.

It has to be said that this is one area where things seem to be inconsistent. On my Motorola Razr I have many apps disabled - and they never even get listed for an update.

I don't allow automatic updating of apps though, so perhaps if that setting is turned on (allowing apps to be automatically updated, that is) then maybe it is something to do with that?

Or maybe it is something unique to the Asus implementation of Android. But all this thinking is making my brain cell tired - so I think I'll stop now...

Is there an app that allows for selected (by application) automatic updating? I was very surprised that when I checked 'automatically update' I was approving it for EVERY app on the tablet.

    thanks
    Mike

Auto updating of all the apps can be turned on or off in the Play Store app settings. Individual apps can be set by going to settings - apps - all and taping the app. Most have their own setting for auto update or not.
