How can I use my GPS on my TF700T on the road?

My TF700T has a GPS. However, I haven't found it useful unless I am connected via WiFi.
What I expected it to be useful for is for getting directions and guidance when I am in my automobile.
However, with only the GPS connection on, I cannot find any app that I have that would help me in driving navigation.

I would very much appreciate it if someone could enlighten me on how I can use my TF700T'S GPS feature to help give it the kind of basic functionality that the "conventional" GPS that I purchased for my auto years ago can do.

Thank you in advance for sharing your time and expertise.

    Jon T.

    Hi Jon,

I am going to answer your question, but will then close your thread as this question has been covered very frequently on the forum & a quick search will find you lots of threads in addition to those shown at the foot of this page in the "similar threads" section.

We do ask that folks search for threads before starting a new one, so thanks for understanding

What you need, to use your TF700 in the way you describe (as a SatNav) is a GPS app that downloads the map data to your TF so that you can use it without being connected to the Internet. There are a number of ways to do this. The first two are free

    1. Google Maps now allows you to download maps for a route that you have looked at while connected to the Internet - thereby making that route available while you travel that route.
    2. NavFree is an app that makes use of OpenStreetMap maps (free, publicly/user maintained & updated map data) to power a free app that downloads app data to your device allowing it to be used as a "normal SatNav" & which doesn't require you to be connected via wifi to the Internet to use it.
    3. Buy a paid for app from whichever service you prefer - Sygic & CoPilot are two that are often mentioned - they & others are available in the Play Store. Both of those apps & others also allow you to download map data for offline use.

I think that covers it, but be sure to read the other threads for further comment - by all means join in on any of the open ones if you like.

    All the best.
