    TF700 Battery Replacement

Has anyone done it? I've searched the forums here, and only found a post with Youtube instructions for the TF101.

Just looking for tips, tricks, and pitfalls to avoid. And how to properly open the baby up to access the battery.

I will need to do this in the next few months, as I'm coming upon two years and I've really put a lot of wear on my battery and it is starting to have diminished life. And I've done the cold boot procedure that is supposed to help.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered,

    Jeff

I haven't done it myself, but I believe there is a tear-down video on ifixit.com for the TF700.
A very good tip I recently read was to use a credit card to carefully dislodge the plastic snaps when you open it up.
    Good luck.

Also note that inside someplace there is a service switch. First thing once it's opened, turn it off, that might prevent some problems.....

Also, remove any micro SD cards before you begin. I ruined a 64GB card replacing the battery in my Droid Razr Maxx.

I've done it twice. It's actually quite easy. Just don't remove or yank on any ribbon cables in the process. A good stiff credit card and a micro Philips is all you need. Be aware that you must first use your screwdriver two slide lock latches (on bottom next to dock port) to the right before running your credit card around the glass to pop open all the screen clips (I recommend you add some sort of "stop" like a lump of hot glue or epoxy to prevent your card from accidentally slipping more than 3 or 4 mm inside your tablet - you can buy a blue plastic "guitar pick-like" tablet openning tool on-line that already has the stop).

Tampatec on YouTube will show you how it's done.

    Jeff -
Did you ever find a good replacement battery source? Beware... I tried eBay twice and got burned with worn out junk both times.

Not yet ... been busy. But I am very close to trying it. Thanks for the eBay warning ... I will avoid eBay, and look elsewhere. Will look for a genuine OEM/retail battery somewhere, even if the cost is higher. I use the heck out of my battery, bordering on abuse and I consider it a consumable component anyway. It's probably at 60% of it's like-new runtime now, even after applying all the battery tweaks and tips on this site. On my next battery I will probably change my habits to make it last longer.

And THANKS for that Youtube link ... I figured the screen just snapped off, but would have never guessed about those sliding lock latches.
