    Wifi channel support

    Hello All,
I bought my transformer tf700t a couple months ago in the US, and love it. I came over to the UK for school, and everything was going fine for a while, now I can no longer get on my wifi.
I downloaded a wfi analyzer on my tablet and on my pc(wifi working fine on PC). I realized that the wifi i'm using is on channel 12. I heard that since the tablet was bought in the US it does not have channel 12 capabilities (it does have a US build number).
Since I'm in University housing I do not have access to change the Wifi channel. Is there anyway to access channel 12 wifi on a US bought Asus transformerpad tf700t? without rooting?
    Thanks everyone.

    Welcome to the forum

I don't think rooting would help. You would need to purchase a mini WiFi router that would use ch 12 then connect to the router. They are pretty inexpensive.

It is possible to change the WiFi channel support with rooting and running a custom ROM, however I think the better choice would be to either talk to the university and see if they can change the channel or get a repeater.

Another option, if you have a computer it may be possible to create a new access point using the program "Connectify". I use it and the free version will allow you to take a LAN connection and create an infrastructure access point (it will have Connecetify in the SSID). On many laptops that support multiple WiFi connections it may be possible to be on WiFi and then create an access point using the same laptop to allow your tablet to connect to WiFi.

Thanks a bunch guys, I'm going to talk to IT, and if that doesn't work I'll look into connectify. I would rather try that than have to pick up more gear. Ultimately might have to get the mini router. Thanks a bunch
