    Stock Launcher hidden on TF700

    Hello all,

First new thread for me so be kind and i'm not sure if this is a repeated topic.

When I updated to the new 4.2 version on my infinity. I noticed it was missing the option to switch to the stock launcher, but it isn't missing...just hidden (i'm guessing a bug in the update from Asus.

I recently found a tip to get the stock launcher back so all credit goes to him. I've listed the steps below but have a look at the link to see more info and screenshots:

    1. Download and install a third party launcher like Nova, ADW, Apex, etc.
    2. Launch said launcher.
    3. Long-press on the homescreen and select Shortcuts > Activities.
    4. From there, scroll down to Settings, hit the drop down, and select "Switch Launcher."
    5. Run the newly-created shortcut to open a hidden option in the settings menu that allows you to switch from the old-style launcher to the new, and vice versa.
    6. Reboot.
    7. Enjoy!

First time, it wouldn't create the shortcut but second time it did and now my infinity is running much smoother and faster (somehow) and switching between apps has greatly increased.

Tip: Switch To The Stock 4.2 Launcher On Your Transformer Pad Infinity With This Simple Trick

Hope this gets to people who want the stock launcher

We do have a thread about switching the launcher, but no worries. I have a question for you though, you say you couldn't get the stock launcher, which one did you have after the install by default, the one with the top and bottom notification bars, or the one with just the bottom notification bar? I had the standard ASUS one with just the bottom bar, which is what I had prior to updating.

Yeah, I had the Asus launcher with the notification bar on the bottom right. Now got the stock Android with split notifications/quick settings on the top. My infinity has always been slow after update even after factory reset. Finally might be able to enjoy it.

Interesting. I'm giving it a run for a few days to see how it goes.

What is the difference and is one better than the other? Sounds like the stock may be faster, but eats more screen real estate?

I think it is a personal preference. No difference performance wise for me. I just didn't like giving up the extra space. But give it a shot you can easily switch back.
