    Possible to root without wire?

    Hi all,

Long story short: asus sent me a defective wire that charges my tablet but does not connect to my pc. They admit they sent me a defective wire but refuse to replace it because I did not notice the issue until after the two week return period.

This has left be wanting to root my tablet for several months but not knowing how to. Are there any self rooting tools or any way to do it wirelessly?

Is there any temporary self root that I can use to enable remote adb and then do an actual root?

    Thanks in advance

I have to say that kinda sucks.

Also, there is not a wireless or self root on the tablet. It has to be done tethered to another device. My advice - spend $10-15 on a new cable. I had to do it myself as after 1.5 years of heavy traveling my cord did the same thing. Still charges, but no USB connection.

I recently heard about Framaroot, an app that claims to root many devices, the Transformer is listed. I do not have any first hand experience with it.
It has a substantial thread on XDA so I would tend to trust it - doesn't seem to sneak Trojans on your tablet.

But read the thread, do your research, check the permissions it requires before installing, then decide if you want to give it a try.
You do need to enable 'unknown sources' in the Security settings.

If you try it, let us know if it worked!

If you can get root through an app, then you can use a terminal command to install recovery if you wanted to.
