    docking station keyboard stopped working

Keyboard worked fine initially. Mouse pad worked fine. Then after I inserted my USB mouse (no idea if this triggered this although) DS keyboard and mouse pad do not work anymore. USB mouse still works when I plug into DS. System also charges fine, so I'm hoping is just a setting and not hardware but tried to look at settings and just cannot find where I can change this I read different threads and the 4th key from top left does not do anything.
Thanks to all people for contributing to this forum !!

This is strange behavior. I have used a USB mouse with mine and the keyboard worked just fine. Does it start working again if you unplug the mouse? Have you tried a cold boot (instructions in the link at the bottom of my post)?

Tried the cold reboot and didn't work unfortunately. After seeing your post, tried it again to make sure I didn't do it wrong, but indeed still without success.

It worked for many weeks perfectly fine, but suddenly not anymore. Both keyboard and mouse pad do not work anymore, but I can`t wrap my head around the fact that it charges fine when docked and also that USB mouse still works fine. I inserted an SD card and it reads the card fine too. So the connection seems to work on all level except for its internal hardware (keyboard and pad). I did buy this docking station used but it was working fine so I don't see that it would have been faulty.

In settings view under language and input the android and Asus keyboard sections are greyed (although I can change their settings but not deselect it however - weird.....).

I'm starting to think however that it must be hardware because I didn't change anything between last time it worked and the first time it stopped working.

Could it be because I too out tablet out of the docking station without first time finding a software "you can now safely unplug from the docking station" - which I didn't find but then also didn't look for very hard..... so I may only have myself to blame.

Many thanks frenziedfemale (cute pic btw)

There is no "it is now safe to remove the tablet from dock" method, you just remove it. So no worries there. You did nothing wrong.
Did you do the cold boot with the dock attached? You should. I am not sure how to tell if it is hardware related. I wouldn't think the USB port and sdcard as well as charging would work then ...maybe we will get a more techy member to chime in.

Sounds like a hardware fault to me...

If it's under warranty the repair will be free

My wife has a keyboard and it is 'flaky' at best. The problem that I've seen is 'connecting' it to the tablet is quite picky. It has not clicked into place for quite some time. I don't have a 'fix' for you other than to try to connect the keyboard holding the tablet at different angles to see that it connects fully with both catches.

Do you know anyone else with a 700, with or without a keyboard dock? Swap them around. If the problem follows the tablet, it's probably software, if it follows the keyboard dock, it's the dock!
