Certain TF201 Keyboard Keys Suddenly Not Working on TF700

I recently purchased a TF700 and opted not to but the dock since I read that the TF201 dock will work with it (and I already had one).

Everything was working fine for the last few months, and today I found that half of the keys on the keyboard will not work. The functional keys seem to work (screen shot, home, wifi, bluetooth, etc) but half of the letters will not.

These are the only keys that are working to write with at the moment, listed by row...

I have tried a cold reboot and that did not help. Not really sure what to do. Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or does anyone know how to fix it? Or do I need to go out and buy a new dock. Is it possible that I ruined a pin somewhere? How can I tell if it's the tablet or the dock?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks Much!

    Welcome to the forum

It's hard to say for certain what this might be, but my guess would be a hardware fault on the dock. The only way to be sure would be to take your tf700 to a store and try a different dock in it. If it works, then the issue will be the hardware of your tf201 dock.

Almost certainly the dock. My TF201 dock which I use with my TF700T is an old one, and lately sometimes some of the keys don't work. Right now all of them do, as I'm writing this with it.. but sometimes 'o' and 'n' won't work (always both of those on or off) and some others. I don't think it's the keys themselves, I rather suspect a ribbon cable or connector or something. But I have not opened the keyboard.

I figure it is probably the dock. I've had it a few years now and used it with my old tablet, which was stolen at a gym (jerks!).

Of course this sucker broke the day before I left the country for a 5 week trip. Luckily the battery and storage functionality is still there. I stopped at a Best Buy on my way to the airport, but they did not have the newer dock in the store for me to try.

Another thing happening is whenever I go to any input screen / field, an "m" and a "," type themselves in and those are two of the keys that are not working. What does that mean?

Don't know what would cause the ghost keypresses.
When I found I couldn't fully trust the keyboard for typing I bought a very slim and portable bluetooth keyboard before going on a long trip. Works fine. The dock keyboard and the BT one work at the same time even.
Right now the dock keyboard is working fine so the BT keyboard is stowed away. But it's there if I need it and I'll bring it when I travel again.

That might indicate that those keys are stuck? Either hardware- or software-wise....
