Stuck in Boot Loop after doing routine CM update

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me get my TF300T working again as right now it is stuck in a boot loop. Here's a quick retelling of what happened...

In October 2013 I rooted my TF300T and I installed CM 10.2 (cm-10.2-20131026). No issues from there at all. I had updated CM a couple times since, but only to newer 10.2 versions. Then in December 2013 I was doing another routine CM update (version 10.2-20131214). I don't know or recall what version I was coming from, sorry. I used the CM Updater built into Settings > About Tablet, and did the Download and then Reboot and Install option. The tablet started rebooting, but stopped on the boot screen and has been stuck there since.

I cannot get into Recovery, but I can power down by using a pin in the reset hole and holding Volume Up for a few seconds.

And now it's May 2014 and I haven't done much with the TF300T due to being so busy. But now I have time to work on it. I've read many threads about people in the same situation, but I don't want to hijack their threads. I'm just hoping someone can provide me with some info on what steps I need to take from here.

I think I need to get into Fastboot, and I'm hopeful that I still can. But I'm not 100% sure how to cos it's been so long since I did anything with this tablet.

As a side note, I posted about this situation right after it happened and I got little response (if any). I posted on the Tf Forums, XDA and even the CM Forums.
Here's the original Tf Forums post: Updating CM 10.2 to newer 10.2 caused brick / bootloop
Here's the XDA post: [Q] Tf300t stuck at bootscreen and can't get into recovery options. - xda-developers (I hijacked someone's thread)
Here's the CM Forums post: Cm-10.2-20131014 Bricked Mine! Bootloop! - Asus Transformer Pad Nightly/Experimental - CyanogenMod Forum

What happens when you power on with power and volume down key to access recovery? If you cannot get to that screen (with the three icons) then there is not Much hope.

Now that I think of it, December was around the time that cm10.2 nightlies turned into cm11 ones. This would be that you downloaded a KitKat romfile on the tablet (perhaps not knowing it) and tried to install using an incompatible recovery.

The cm update system in automated and the affects of certain updates vary greatly from one device to another. There is no way that the system would have warned you that something bad would happen.

From a powered off state, holding Power and Volume Down doesn't get me into Recovery. Sad to say. BUT I think there is still hope. My PC isn't detecting the tablet when it is plugged into USB now, so I'm going to try the APX drivers. Then if I can get into Fastboot I will really have hope.

Sorry, but no I definitely didn't flash a CM 11 ROM. However you're right, it was around the time CM 11 came out, but I deliberately avoided CM 11. The versions I've put in my in my first post are spot on (it was 100% CM 10.2-20131214). At the time it happened I quickly noted this version down. If you have time to read any of the three original posts I linked to at the bottom of my first post in this thread, you'll see I was suspect of whoever posted the CM 10.2 update I downloaded. But this is getting offtrack...

Just to be clear, I was updating from a 10.2 to another 10.2 CM ROM.

OK. I understand your situation better now. I still don't have any surefire solutions though. I'm not sure you can utilize apx because though need nv flash for that. For nv flash, you would have needed to create the backup files specifically for your device before the boot loop.

Ahhh, fair enough. I'll forget APX then.

So anyways, I'm starting to think maybe there is no hope. Correct me if I'm wrong here... I really need the TF300T to be able to get into Recovery, cos even if I can get Fastboot going, the tablet will not talk to the PC unless it is in Recovery, right?

I'm re-installing the Asus PC Suite package which got my drivers working when I rooted the tablet, cos as of now my PC doesn't see the tablet.

EDIT: Hmmm, reinstalling Asus PC Suite didn't seem to help.

You need adb and fastboot drivers. I like this little tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2588979
but you can also try the Minimal ADB/Fastboot tool gtanner00 recommends in his thread.

To clear a couple of things: To boot into the bootloader push and hold Volume Down and Power until you see tiny script appear. If you can get there you ae also in fastboot mode.
If you choose the RCK icon you enter recovery. So you get into recovery via the bootloader menu.

If you have fastboot access you should be able to fix almost anything. Having a working recovery makes it somewhat easier.

My guess is that you are on an outdated bootloader for the rom you flashed and/or the recovery you have installed. Post your bootloader and recovery versions please.

Hi again and thanks for the replies.

I have tried the 15 Second ADB Drivers, but I think I still had old drivers installed so I am giving this a shot again. I've uninstalled all the Asus PC Suite junk and any other Android drivers I had (Samsung was there, prolly from my Note 2). They're uninstalled now.

Trying the 15 Second ADB again... I'm getting error messages saying the drivers aren't installing correctly. That link in the 15 Second ADB thread has another link to a ZIP file with driver installation screenshots. It helps, but I'm still hitting a dead end.

Trying the Minimal ADB and Fastboot now. Hmmm, didn't seem to help either. I've had ADB installed for a long time, and Fastboot ever since I rooted the TF300T back in October 2013. However, if I can get the drivers going...

Going to restart Windows and try these pesky drivers again. I'll probably post screenshots of what I am doing cos I'm sure I'm making a mistake but I can't see it...

Oh sorry, where can I find my bootloader / recovery versions? I've gone through my old files from when I rooted the tablet, and found the file "recoverytf300t4.2.zip" which contains:
    "adb.exe",
    "AdbWinApi.dll",
    "AdbWinUsbApi.dll",
    "fastboot.exe" and
    "twrp.blob"

I was using TWRP for Recovery, just not sure what version.

Here's some screenshots of what I'm doing, including first up, the boot loop screen I'm stuck on. Droidbound, you mentioned a script that might or should appear when starting the tablet? I don't see anything like that. Maybe I need to find a way to do a cold boot?

Installation of the 15 Second ADB. I did Yes to everything, including drivers.

Then I went into Device Manager to ensure the drivers were installed correctly, but it appears they are not! I must be doing something wrong, my Device Manager looks very messy. Here's the steps I've taken (in screenshots). I should also note that you'll see there is ASUS or Google Inc. drivers to choose from. I went with Google and got the error "The device cannot start. (Code 10)". When I go with ASUS, I get the same. Should my tablet be on during driver installation for this to work? I've tried that also, no dice.

    Hi again guys.

I think I am half way there in terms of getting my drivers done. I've been tinkering about and found this guide to installing Transformer drivers: How to Install Transformer Prime USB Drivers on Windows! | TransformerPrimeRoot.com

And I followed it while having my tablet plugged in and turned on at the boot loop screen. Nothing would work though. I kept getting that error "The device cannot start. (Code 10)" So then I powered the tablet down with the the pin in the reset hole, tried again, and boom, I got ONE of the drivers installed and apparently working! It's the Bootloader Interface Driver. See this screenshot:

    http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps1c55b90f.jpg

But I cannot get the other driver installed (the Android Composite ADB Interface). I get the same error as before...

    Any suggestions?
